Seecrets Delivery Services (SDS) provides end-to-end  secure deliveries of commercial content similar to a post office providing “registered mail services”. 

• When your customer receives his copy, he cannot convert, print, save nor copy any portion of it. The copy is For-Your-Eyes-Only (FYEO). When this copy is transferred to another computer, it will not work.
• The content provider can opt for watermarking, making each copy unique just like a one-dollar bill.
• We use some heavy-duty encryption, the same stuff governments use to safeguard secrets.
• Best of all, it costs US$1 or less per delivery.
• There is NO software or hardware to buy, no changes to existing operations. We solely focus on our jobs as secure deliverers.
• No extra technical knowledge needed to use our services beyond the existing skills (reading, sending, composing emails; saving or copying attachments).

  The Problem of Illegal Sharing 

Every digital content owner is aware of the widespread illegal sharing going on in the internet. In particular, let’s examine a typical scenario affecting most newsletter and ebook publishers: 

Alison publishes a commercial newsletter. Subscribers pay her a recurring fee. For each newsletter she publishes, she uses a password to protect her digital content (in pdf, chm, doc format). She sends this password to her subscribers. On receiving this password, Burt, Alison’s customer, unprotects the digital content. Burt copies, prints or fax this unprotected copy to his buddy, Charlie. Burt, because he pays for the service, cautioned Charlie not to share it with anyone. Charlie, on the other hand, is more than likely to put this unprotected version on the web. The number of Burt’s among a typical newsletter publisher’s customers is small. Unfortunately, the Charlie type is common. 

The rate of illegal sharing is anything from 100% to 1000% according to various publishers. Sadly, nobody has accurate figures. Most of the illegal sharing going on in the internet occurs in P2P and warez sites. Of late, many downloading sites have become havens for pirated contents.  

The oft ignored law of digital content is that all digital content are copyable, no matter what protective measures are used. Protective measures are deterrents only and there is always a trade-off between deterrents and costs.    

About Seecrets Delivery Services (SDS) 

Step 1: Content Provider prepares document in the usual manner.

Step 2: Content Provider encrypts this content and send it to us.

Step 3: We put in our extra proprietary protection and send out individually to each customer. Turn-around time for this step should not exceed 1 working day.

Step 4: The customer on receiving our e-mail can use the contents within minutes.

Explanatory Notes: The technologies used to print the common dollar bill are among the most sophisticated in the world. Most users need not know about these technologies in their daily lives. This is the same for SDS. 

• For Public Key Encryption, SDS uses RSA-8192 bits. Most use 1024 or 2048-bits. Some software allows a maximum of 4096-bits for keys.

• The National Security Agency (NSA) has decreed that 256-bits Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is enough to protect top-level government secrets. SDS uses triple 256-bits encryption.

• Watermarking technologies for digital content are still rudimentary. Conversion from say, a PDF document to a CHM document, will remove all watermarks. SDS uses watermarks as “image-enhancers” for the content owner. With our FYEO (for-your-eyes-only) content, watermarks are effective deterrents.

• SDS uses proprietary FYEO technologies. Users of FYEO content cannot print, save, copy nor convert any part of the protected content. There is no way to prevent screen-capture software, which work like cameras, from capturing the protected content as images.

• The Seecrets Signature-Free technology is a key component of SDS. Almost any digital object has a signature. For example a Windows program has ‘MZ’ in the first two bytes; a Zip archive has ‘PK’ in the first two bytes, and so forth. All SDS-protected contents contained no signature at all! This means the origin cannot be determined even with sophisticated forensic tools. If we use a certain key to encrypt a particular digital object one thousand times, we will get one thousand completely different objects. Yet when we decrypt these one thousand objects, the result will be the same original object!

• The e-mail address is unique. So is the manufacturer’s serial number of the hard disk which can be retrieved by specially-written software. This combination is sufficient for digital identification and delivery purposes. No other personal information is involved.

SCHEME 1:

The initial fee is US$200. This is good for the next 200 deliveries or 1 year whichever is earlier. Thereafter, the rate is US$1 per delivery.

SCHEME 2:

The initial fee is US$200. This is applicable for most newsletter & e-book publishers. Additional customization features are extra. Subsequent deliveries are charged according to the table shown below.
